Complete Genome Sequence of the Probiotic Limosilactobacillus fermentum Strain KL271

Abstract
We examined the complete genome of Limosilactobacillus fermentum KL271, a strain isolated from kimchi, to determine its genetic characteristics and potential as a probiotic.
The genome spans 1,995,103 base pairs, comprising 1,928 coding sequences (CDS) and genes linked to essential metabolic pathways, stress response mechanisms, and cellular functionality. The key features included four rRNA genes, 55 tRNA genes, and one tmRNA gene. Probiotic-related genes, such as those that promote intestinal adhesion, nutrient assimilation, and oxidative stress resistance, were identified. Moreover, the biosynthetic pathways for glutathione and riboflavin suggest an enhanced capacity for stress resilience.
These findings highlight the genetic adaptations of L. fermentum KL271 and provide insights into its probiotic efficacy and potential applications in gut microbiome research and health improvement.
