The purpose of this study was to understand grandmothers’ childcare support patterns by conducting a focus group interview. The data for this study came from 20 grandmothers in transition of 5 focus groups (each consisting of 4 persons) interviews. Nine of them were pre-grandmothers who did not yet have any grandchildren, and 11 were grandmothers who had grandchildren. The patterns of the grandmothers'' intentions of supporting childcare were classified. The patterns were categorized by the grandmothers'' intentions of providing childcare support for their grandchildren according to the participants'' thoughts and attitudes, after which the patterns according to the categories were analyzed as characteristics. This study is a significant endeavor in examining grandmothers and grandmothers-to-be who are being on their life''s transition period through their own perspective.
