Abstract
In the Murakami literary world, the other world is considered a dream as a slave of thought and an awakening world from dream. Murakami seeks to suggest a solution to readers. He believes that the modern age people have lost how to manage to control themselves in active terms instead of passive terms, overwhelmed by unconsciousness.
Habitual reaction to something in reflection means that the very action is as good as a slave. The recovery of identity is needed to liberate ourselves from conditioned reflex. The system in encouragement comes up as conditioned reflex. A condition requires another corresponding condition, which is a process from awakening to dreaming to awakening.
Thinking, a world created by humans, does not exist in real world. Even death might be a concept created by humans, since we cannot experience death itself. In order to balance a concept, Murakami asks his readers to breed another concept: death for life''s sake.
