Recently, plenty of new words appear in Modern Chinese and attract people''s attention. Word is the most changeable factor in language development, new words reflect s social change quickly, and it is very sensitive to new thing, new phenomenon or new concept. To control new words is the window to understand modern China and the important way to comprehend it. This article analyses the characteristics of new words, and discusses the necessity of the new words in teaching Chinese, expounds some questions we have to pay attention in teaching Chinese.
