which is rapidly growing in Korea. By revealing the similarity and difference in cognition and needs of slow tourism development between resident and tourists, this study will provide practical suggestions for better consequence. The result of this empirical investigation shows that residents are more interested in the development of agricultural products and improvement in living environment, while tourists have bigger interests in experiential tourism attractions and programs. However, local resident and tourists both have great expectations toward government''s long term planning in providing experts and resident''s education. They tend to be less interested in building their own associations to operate and manage the tourism industry. As a result, this study suggests that deliberate planning on education of slow tourism for residents and tourist is the most important requirement for successful slow tourism development at this current moment.
