This paper evaluates the opportunity costs of various roles that Korean women farmers perform and examines the factors affecting those opportunity costs using Tobit model. The opportunity costs of unpaid housework, farm work, and local community work that women farmers are performing are investigated from survey data for women farmers in their 40s and 50s. The empirical evidence suggests that relatively younger women farmers with higher education express that they are more willing to pay for alternative laborers; that is, women farmers with higher human capitals tend to evaluate highly their opportunity costs in all kinds of work.
