The purpose of this study is to present the English figurative expressions of heart+love and to show their concept compositions. For the former aim, K?vecses (2000)’s metonymy and metaphors of love, and for the latter aim, Ruiz de Mendoza & Galera-Masegosa (2011)’s idea of complexes’ composition is utilized. The heart+love metonymy exploites strong, rapid, and irregular heart beats; The heart+love metaphors rest on [CLOSENESS TO ONE’S HEART], [POSSESSION OF ONE’S HEART], [FORCE TO ONE’S HEART], [ABNORMAL STATE OF ONE’S HEART], and [SOMETHING IN ONE’S HEART]. Composition types of complexes of heart+love are mostly metaphor with metonymy, chained metaphor, and metaphor amalgam. Different conceptualizations of [HEART] are found in different types of heart+love compositions: [HEART FOR FEELING] is found in the target domain of a metaphor with metonymy, [HEART FOR PERSON] in its source domain, and [HEART AS A VALUABLE OBJECT] & [HEART AS A CONTAINER] in a chained metaphor.
