This article aims to help estimate the publication date of Myeongmulsohak (『名物小學』), which is not yet known, by examining the linguistic aspects found here, and looking at which period of Korean history this linguistic aspect is close to. The study suggests that Myeongmulsohak (『名物小學』) was designed to increase the utility of Chinese character learning books, such as arranging eight characters per line, dividing and clarifying meaning of word, and reorganizing them following the actual language use. In addition, given the aspects of notation, phonology and use of letters, this book can be summarized as intended as a study book that tried to actively accommodate actual language use. However, the presentation of Sino-Korean adopted a fairly standardized method due to the standardization caused by the influence of prosody book (韻書) and Sino-Korean dictionary in the period of modern Korean.
