Abstract
Purpose: This research aims to assess the feasibility of utilizing LNG cold energy to maintain ideal water temperatures in aquaculture facilities in fishing villages. Methods: Quantitative analysis was performed to compare the heat energy requirements for this purpose. The research involved estimation of the annual consumption of LNG in specific fishing village regions, selection of appropriate pond sizes, and establishment of fundamental thermodynamic assumptions. Results: Our findings provide strong evidence for the effectiveness of LNG cold energy in maintaining water temperatures with the aim of maintaining an ideal temperature for aquaculture in fishing villages. The specific amount of LNG required varies with generational factors and temperature preferences. However, challenges arise during hot summer months when there is sole reliance on LNG cold energy. Conclusion: In light of the challenges faced during hot summer periods, this research recommends the incorporation of supplementary systems, e.g., deep seawater or LNG power generation, to achieve more efficient temperature control in fishing villages.
