Abstract
The increasing size of televisions has necessitated larger chassis-rear components, which assemble the TV panel and circuit elements while supporting their weight. This enlargement has led to a rise in forming force requirements during the chassis-rear stamping process. This study investigates a method to reduce the forming force for manufacturing the chassis-rear of an 85 inch TV within the capacity of an existing 800 tonf press. The proposed approach involves dividing the die in the drawing process to enable two sequential punchings, thereby decreasing the forming force. The effects of varying the motion positions of the split die during each punching stage on forming force and springback were analyzed with finite element simulation. The proper motion position conditions were identified to achieve forming with the 800 tonf press while ensuring reasonable springback. Then practical trials demonstrated successful part forming, validating the feasibility of the proposed method.
