Since the introduction of 3-dimensional images in dentistry, there has been a new interest in fusion of the images of facial soft tissue surface and dentition. It is necessary to have a precisely described 3D image of a patient for accurate diagnosis for orthodontic treatment. However, it is not sufficiently effective to describe the condition of the facial soft tissue, facial skeleton and dentition with a certain type of 3D images. In this paper, we would like to introduce the manufacturing process of ‘Dental Avatar’, which can accurately and conveniently express the condition of the facial soft tissue, facial skeleton, and dentition as a single object in a 3D image.
