In this study, shark byproduct (SB)-based tissue adhesive containing chitosan was prepared and evaluated for biomedical applications. The amino acid contents of SB extracts were over 67% (w/w). SB extracts-based tissue adhesives had less effect on L-929 cell viability than Dermabond?. The adhesive bonding strength results show that the strength of SB extract glue containing chitosan was higher than those of SB extract glue and Dermabond. In the wound mouse model studies, the wounds treated with SB extract glue containing chitosan showed significantly rapid closure than other groups.
