This paper discusses shortcomings with a verb shifting approach for weak definites and argues for an incorporation approach. Aguilar-Guevara and Zwarts(2010) claim that weak definites refer to kind individuals and combine with transitive verbs which are shifted to special kind-level predicates. This verb shifting approach has difficulty in capturing the fact that the semantic scope of nouns in weak definites is indeterminate and being extended to account for bare singulars which share linguistic properties with weak definites. By adopting the idea that nouns in weak definites express activities, I propose that a weak definite forms a complex predicate with a verb, sharing their arguments.
