Abstract
According to J. H. Pestalozzi, the aim of moral education is to help a student be a ''love-giving person'' who practices both self-control in individual aspect and love for mankind in social aspect. In other words, the ideal person of Pestalozzi''s moral education has autonomy and contributes to the welfare of mankind. The content of Pestalozzi''s moral education, that is what is to be taught to help students be good people, has three things: the meaning of love, the necessity of love to the society, the virtues needed for love-practice. The method of Pestalozzi''s moral education has three things: they are related to heart, head, and hand respectively. Cultivating love-feeling is connected to the heart, developing love-understanding is to the head, and achieving love-practicing through exertion is to the hand. Pestalozzi''s suggestions to the current Korean moral education are two things: first one is that Pestalozzi''s ''morality-priority in education'' idea can strengthen the justification of moral subject which is taught in Korean secondary schools. And second one is that Pestalozzi shows us good model of how to teach love in Korean moral subject because Pestalozzi''s meaning of love is not difficult but easy and friendly to the students.
