The loan words used in Korea are mainly based on many different foreign languages from the West. However, during the time of Enlightenment and the Japanese occupation, Japanese words were introduced and then some Japanese style loan words were born. Some of these kinds of words have experienced changes of meaning like reduction, expansion and variation, while others have remained almost unchanged. Meanwhile, the usage of the loan words, the average recognition rate among teens and twenty somethings is 70 percent and the usage rate is 46 percent for the 39 Japanese style loan words. Words such as 아파트(apartment), 리모콘(remote controller) and 돈가스(pork cutlet) are very likely to remain but some words like 난닝구(running shirts), 멘스(menstruation) and 후앙(fan) are on the course to disappear. On the bases of these kinds of changes are many reasons, some of these reasons seem to be campaign for Korean language purification and in publishing Korean dictionaries.
