This paper seeks to examine how Paul Mudoon made an attempt to distance himself from W. B. Yeat and Seamus Heaney, his mentor. I find that Seamus Heaney was successful in terms of his building of his own poetic world different from that of W. B. Yeats. As a disciple of Seamus Heaney, Paul Mudoon has also become successful in the construction of his own poetic world. Particularly adopting allegory, Muldoon has created his poetic world distinct from those of W. B. Yeats and Seamus Heaney in addressing Ireland and Irishness.
