The purpose of this study was to identify the difference of residents’ motivation of visit to old cores in Gwangju by gender and age, and to investigate the effect of residents’ motivation of visit on their support for urban regeneration focusing on meditating effect of their satisfaction. Data were collected from the residents visiting Keumnam-ro and Chungjang-ro in old cores of Gwangju from November 26 to 28, 2019, and finally 342 questionnaires were analyzed. The three dimensions of visitors’ motivation were entertainment & shopping, food & beverage and culture & education. The significant difference in the visitors’ motivation was found by gender and age. Female residents were reported more motivation in entertainment & shopping factor and food & beverage factor, and under 19 and 20’s showed stronger motivation in entertainment & shopping factor, and 20’s showed stronger motivation in food & beverage factor. It was also found that visitors’ motivation affected on their satisfaction and their support for tourism development by urban regeneration project. It was confirmed that visitors’ satisfaction had a complete meditating role between residents’ motivation of the visit to old cores and their support for tourism development by urban regeneration project.
