Abstract
It was politeness based on human relationship that the tradition ofKorean speech communication has stress on. But it have changed intoego-centrism based on logic and profit. It is why Korean youths livetheir everyday life surrounded with swear words and their socialrelationship have faded way.
Based on previous researches and ‘Sasojeol’ written by Lee Deokmoo,which was a kind of training book of everyday life in 18 century, I arguedthe cultural heritage of Korean speech communication that ‘we’ centeredculture and high context culture. I suggest that sudden change intoindustrial society and pursuing to western value have spoiled the heritage.
Besides, the absent of education have accelerated the change.
For succession and flourishing of speech communication culturalheritage, I suggest three directions of Korean language education. First,we should moderate the tradition with modern social situation, those arebalances between ‘we’ with ‘I’ and high context with low context. Second,we should rediscover East Asian values and success them. Last, weshould lay emphasis on ‘conduct knowledge’ and practice in teachingspeech communication.
