Abstract
Ryu, Jimin & Kim, Choong-Myung. 2020. An Inclination of Tense Comprehension and Development depending on the Concept of the Time in Preschoolers. Korean Journal of Linguistics, 45-3, 537-554. This study was designed to investigate the relationships between the tense comprehension and the time concept composed of the order and age concept using a grammatical judgment task by age. 97 younger children aged from 4 to 6 were recruited to participate in the study. The findings are as follows. (1) we reconfirmed that the degree of tense comprehension was found to increase with age. (2) A distinctive and important observation at the relationship between tense comprehension and age concept is that from the age of 5, the logical perception related with the concept of age develops evidently. (3) the higher the age and the higher the age concept level, the greater the tense comprehension. (4) the developmental sequence of tense was found to be in order of present progressive, past and future tense. These results suggested that the establishment of the order and age concept will be the basis of tense comprehension, and its developmental degree of the tense varies according to the acquisition of the concepts.
