This study aimed to present some possible pragmatical analyses on metamorphic progress of Casy’s faith and speech act represented in The Grapes of Wrath. To provide some insights to the readers in English literature, Speech Act Theory is employed as a pragmatical approach. Casy’s speech act has been unfolded showing three levels centering surface area with deep level beneath and upper projection level. Each level of Casy’s speech act is analysed with pragmatical suggestions. This study is believed to provide some philosophical explanations of paradoxical speech acts for the readers. A further research is preferable finding out some possible explanations of matching the three levels of Casy’s speech act with locutionary, an illocutionary, and a perlocutionary act and suggesting some theological analyses on Casy’s view of Christian faith.
