Various houses, dormitories and operating rooms were built to give medical treatments and nurse the lepers at Sorok Island during the Japanese Ruling Era. Buildings on the wide land were used to isolate and observe the lepers, since the lepers needed their own colony apart from society, in order to prevent spread of the contagious disease.
