The objective of this study is to analyze the behaviors of rice farms within the Special Zone for environmentally friendly agriculture in Korea and Japan using the survey data. The comparative analysis was done on their opinions about designation of the Special Zone for environmentally friendly agriculture, and current situation and future prospects regarding the environmentally friendly farming in rice production. The survey result showed that the opinions on designating the Special Zone for environmentally friendly agriculture, most of farmers in both countries were positively supporting the zoning idea. They were expecting improvements in farm income, and expansion of environmentally friendly agriculture through the designation. In addition, they named environ- mentally friendly rice as one of profitable crop contributing to farm income mostly.
