Abstract
This study identifies the recognition and preference of traditional foods on Gwangju Five Tastes (Mudeungsan barley rice, Songjeong ddeokggalbi, Gwangju Korean course meal, Gwangju kimchi and Gwangju duck soup).The study was conducted over one month from October 1 to October 30, 2012. The data were collected from 203 residents in the Gwangju Metropolitan City area. The results show that the recognition on Gwangju Five Tastes is slightly low but the recognition or preference on respective food is shown to be lightly high. Also, this research shows that active publicity via mass communication of GFT can position it as tourism product, and leads GMC to be a food tourism site. At the end of this paper,managerial implications and limitations for further research direction were suggested.
