A Study on Alternatives to Expand Gwangyang Port Cargo Volume Through Attracting E-commerce Related Companies* Ryangwoo Kim,** Soohyun Lee,*** Cheol Lee,**** & Kwangbae Lee***** Abstract: Container traffic volume at Gwangyang Port has been decreasing for five consecutive years. This study was conducted to confirm the e-commerce ecosystem, including industry trends, and to expand container traffic volume by attracting related companies to the Gwangyang Bay area. The authors first reviwed the previous research, collect data through internet research, and confirm the basic status and industrial trends through consultation with related companies and institutions. As a result of the study, the e-commerce ecosystem was confirmed along with the investment plans of e-commerce companies and logistics companies, and the prerequisites for attracting e-commerce companies were identified. Meeting requirements such as setting up a customs clearance center for express cargo and operating an e-commerce pilot zone is directly related to attracting fulfillment centers and e-commerce companies.
