In general, the voicing of /s/ leading to its realization as [z] in intervocalic positions has been approached in very complex ways within phonology. The aim of this study is to offer a more concise explanation of /s/ voicing through a level-structure approach, without the complexity of derivative processes arising from rule orderings or rule domains. We initially explored the analytical methods related to /s/ voicing based on theoretical frameworks, addressing their specific issues in detail, which illuminated the complexities and limitations of their explanations. As a fresh perspective, we introduced a level-structure approach by proposing the s-Voicing rule on level-structure (SVL). We presented succinct explanations for /s/ voicing in three cases: forms with the prefix re, forms with the stem sist, and monomorphemic forms. Particularly, we posited an Inherent Auto-feature Endowment (IAE) condition to account for the monomorphemic forms. As a result, we can provide concise insights into the forms related to /s/ voicing within the level-based approach.
