Early detection of postoperative complications and the degree of care provided to an infant with congenital heart disease have a significant impact on the infant’s developmental potential. This study aimed to develop a nursing simulation scenario for infants with congenital ventricular defects. The study was completed through a scenario involving a cardiovascular surgery intensive care unit nurse, a nursing simulation instructor, and expert advice. This scenario was developed with the learning goals of postoperative nursing for children with ventricular septal defects, family-centered nursing for the infant’s family, and improving communication skills among the medical staff. The results of this study contribute to improving nursing students’ competency in nursing children with ventricular septal defects and provide a simulation scenario on a hitherto unexplored topic.
